Ok, a few days ago I went to an art exhibition titled "OVERTURE' it was at the Adelaide center for the arts and featured a bunch of little art pieces from the TAFE students that had graduated. I went there because a friend of mine had a few of her lovely photos featured in the show. More on those later though because I got annoyed at the stupid font in the blog.
Let's just say Billy Boy is being a little turd of a son right now.

There were many art pieces there, some I liked, some I didn't like. Some I was trying to figure out how they defined them as 'art' but each and every person has a different view on the matter, and I respect that. What appeals to me, will not appeal to someone else.
One artist that caught my beady little bloodshot lack of sleep eye is Klaus Gutowski, who mixed stonewear with gold leaf. His work expressed the relationship of mankind and nature. I loved all his pieces, but one of them in particular...
I just had to question his TRUE intention on the matter. Portrayed below is a lovely lady, and...a...er house? or perhaps 'special device'

just LOOK at the expression on her face and where that huge thing is coming from.
Only one thing came to mind.
Back to Cally's photos...They were really somthing. I had to stare at them to find the person, it was like a 'Where's wally' or a 'who's that there hiding in the shadows on the corner of that there street at night time' thing. The following is what she had to say on her pieces, unfortunately my I-phone is sucky as a camera, obviously because it is NOT made to be a camera. So photos will come in a different blog entry when I steal them off of someone else~
I find the darkness of night Visually Seductive. Within my work I provide minimal detail within each of these spaces, and manipulate the viewr by carefully placing figure(s) in the shadows. The viewer is kept at a 'safe' distance through the positioning of my camera, while illuminated spots appear as sanctuaries in the night. The tension is heightened by a foreboding sense of never really knowing if there are other/more figures watching them from the darkness.
Okay. You DO realize that I didn't hear a word you said after seeing this statue....
ReplyDeleteThe look on her face? And that position of that....house??!! WTF???
I can only assume what she's doing...but why is she doing it with a house??
I can't even concentrate now! Thanks for that, btw.
haha ah yes, it is truly mind boggling isnt it, maybe its her way of 'moving house'?
ReplyDeleteAt least I know Im not the only one who thinks what I Think I know your thinking.
